Susi Susanti won the gold medal in the woman’s singles at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain and the bronze medal at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, United States. She retired from badminton in 1997 and married to Alan Budikusuma in 9 February 1997, who also won a gold medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics. Often considered the finest female badminton player Indonesia produced, Susanti dominated the women’s singles event in the early to mid 1990s, winning the All-England in 1990, 1991, 1993 and 1994, the World Badminton Grand Prix from 1990 to 1994, and the IBF World Championships in 1993. She also led the Indonesian team to win the Uber Cup in 1994 and 1996. She entered the International Badminton Federation (IBF, currently WBF) Hall of Fame in May 2004, and received the Herbert Scheele Trophy in 2002. She won at the Japan Open three times and won the Grand Prix Series in Bali in 1990. She also won various Badminton Grand Prix Series and Badminton World Cups. Susi Susanti will back to Indonesian Uber Cup team but not for playing. She guides INA Uber cup as preparation for next year (2008) in Jakarta.
